Measurment of the bone mineral density of the hip and spine allows for fracture risk assessment and provides a way to track improvements in density with diet and exercise intervention.

Sequential scans allow for measurement of the change in muscle and fat mass over time. 4-packs may be shared with friends and family to reduce scan cost and allow for easy booking.

The Bodycomp scan produces a detailed image of the body and a summary of the tissue components. You will learn the mass of muscle, fat and bone for the entire body as well as per arm, leg and torso. We will accurately determine your percent body fat for your entire body as well as for individual sub-regions. The technologist will also estimate your resting metabolic rate based upon your lean tissue mass. We can help you formulate a macro-nutrient based nutrition plan that will aid in achieving your goals.
Follow-up scans demonstrate the change in percent body fat as well as any muscle gain (or loss) and the regional distribution of these changes. Does your personal trainer have you on the right program? Are your dietary and lifestyle changes paying off?
A follow-up Bodycomp scan can answer these questions. The results are produced immediately after the scan. The technologist will discuss the values with you after your scan. You will keep an explanation booklet containing your scan results as well as reference normal values and other explanatory information.
As our population ages, there has been an increase in the number of hip, wrist and vertebral compression fractures. The majority of these types of fractures, in women over 50, are due to a condition called osteoporosis.
Bone density screening scans can help identify those individuals who are at an increased risk of fracture due to low bone mass. During this 7-10 minute procedure, the technologist will image the hip and spine. Although our whole body scan includes these areas, assessing bone density requires detailed images of the hip and spine to produce optimal screening results due to the way our bodies store and lose mineral mass in the skeleton.
Our screening clinics are suitable for individuals that would like to assess their fracture risk but are not covered via the Medical Services Plan(MSP). This is a screening service, however, we have radiologists available for those who would like their scans read for medical diagnosis.
The Bodycomp 4-pack provides a value price for those looking for multiple scans on a budget. They are ideal for individuals checking their body composition multiple times throughout the year. The scans may also be shared among family and friends.
Sequential scans are most frequently performed at three month intervals. For those seeking more detail during a more aggressive change, scans can be performed as often as once per month, however this is typically only useful for performance athletes and those undergoing aggressive fat reduction strategies. For those making slower, more nuanced changes a scan every six months may be more appropriate.
All scans must be redeemed within 24 months of purchase.
